The Golf course is constructed
on land which already had character, but significant quantities
of earth were moved to shape the large mounds and depressions
to add the features which are the hallmark of the well know
architect, Roger Packard. Adventure is the style of this absorbing
course. Greens are often hidden from the tees, but the well
defined fairways provide the necessary pointers for golfers
to retain a sense of direction.
Lake
View has a par of 72 and also a good championship length of
more than 6900 yards from the back tees. The long holes definitely
play as par fives, the par fours are a medley of length and
designs, while the short holes are a good test of courage
and golfing expertise.
The course has been
designed to convey a sense of adventure. Adrenaline flows
from the first tee shot onwards as the combination of dog
legs occasional water hazards and well guarded greens over
the opening holes prepare the mind for more surprises to come.
These become apparent as the course unfolds, and by the time
the twelfth arrives the visitor will have already settled
down to a rountine of expecting the unexpected while savouring
the ever changing scenery.
This course is great
fun to play. Roger Packard and his team have produced and
entertaining design which exhibits and intriguing display
of imagination. It also recognizes the preferences of the
modern day golfer who likes to enjoy a fair challenge together
with good opportunities for a justified risk.
